About the Role

Job Overview

Hours: Up to 30 hrs/wk (3/4 time), Part-time Salaried Exempt (goal to offer full-time as funds allow)

  • Willingness to teach, operate, and select music within the Doctrinal Guidelines for Teaching at Oak Hill, understanding how music functions to teach doctrine in the church
  • Commitment to the mission of Oak Hill and alignment with the philosophy of ministry, willing to work with the leadership toward the common goals of the church
  • Participation in the family life of Oak Hill as a member (upon being hired), especially being involved in a Gospel Community and appropriate spiritual accountability
  • Education: A degree in Bible or clear evidence of church-based theological equipping in a like-minded church

Competencies:

  1. Leads musical praise with evident passion and enthusiasm that flows from a heart-level love for God
  2. Motivated and able to meet organizational/administrative needs to lead groups and teams (managing people and processes)
  3. Proficient in an instrument that is useful in leading modern worship music with a band (guitar or keys)
  4. Has a good grasp of music theory pertinent to modern worship ministry (transposing keys, arranging harmonies, writing melodic lines, etc.)
  5. Has a working knowledge of all worship team instruments and can give direction to the various musicians who play them
  6. Ability to organize, administrate, communicate, and build appropriate relationships with team members and the congregation
  7. Understands technology used in worship with the ability to train and troubleshoot: sound, lighting, computers, projection, and planning software
  8. A thorough biblical understanding of and proficiency in discipleship that results in multiplication

Job Description

Capacity – Responsibilities will include:

  1. Team Development through recruitment, rehearsing, teaching, coaching, and discipleship
  2. Congregational discipleship, equipping the church with the “why” of congregational singing and the heart of worship.
  3. General Planning and Management of schedules, songs, A/V needs
  4. Organization and Facilitation of Sunday Celebrations, Prayer Meetings, and other special service events (such as Christmas Eve, Good Friday, extra worship events, etc.)
  5. This employee may be assigned another area of oversight to fit within his required hours based on his giftings and the needs of the church.

In addition to the above responsibilities, this director will meet weekly with the staff to discern current ministry needs and share the load accordingly. He will meet monthly with the elders to report on anything pertinent to his ministry responsibilities. He will be allowed, but not required, to serve in other areas of ministry as available in a volunteer role above his 30 hrs/wk.
