EICMS Ministry Mentor-Coach Position Description

Position Summary

●       The Evangelical Institute for Christian-Muslim Studies (EICMS) seeks spiritually mature Christian leaders with experience in ministry among Muslims to serve as Ministry Coaches and Mentors within the 2027 Certificate in Ministry to Muslims.

●       The mission of EICMS is to coach, train, and provide resources that equip Christian leaders to love, understand, and make disciples of Muslims while responding thoughtfully to the civilizational challenges posed by Islam. ●       EICMS coaching is a Christ-centered, Spirit-led process that integrates coaching, mentorship, and discipleship. 

●       The primary responsibility of an EICMS coach is to guide students through the Ministry Practicum by helping them translate classroom learning into faithful, long-term ministry among Muslims.

●       Coaching encourages students to discover God's direction through thoughtful questions, reflection, prayer that results in goal setting, action planning and accountability.

●       Coaching is a Christ-centered relationship that cultivates sustained growth and action.

●       Coaching includes mentoring to provide wisdom, ministry experience, modeling, guidance, and perspective.

●       Coaching is transformative as it empowers the students to live out their God-given potential.

Primary Responsibilities

●       Guide students through the six-month Ministry Practicum. (January to June, 2027)

●       Participate in weekly Zoom classes and coaching sessions. (Time: TBD)

●       Help students apply course content to real-life ministry situations.

●       Facilitate group coaching discussions during class sessions.

●       Pray regularly with students.

●       Encourage spiritual formation and Christlike character.

●       Foster leadership development and ministry effectiveness.

●       Create opportunities for peer learning and collaboration.

●       Help students remain connected to their local churches.

Coach-to-Student Ratio

●       Each coach will be assigned no more than five students.

●       Coaches will remain with the same cohort throughout the six-month certificate program.

2027 Monthly Coaching Practicum Milestones

●       January: Identify and engage with Muslims.

●       February: Develop a ministry vision.

●       March: Complete a ministry plan and build a team.

●       April: Implement the ministry plan.

●       May: Implement the ministry plan.

●       June: Debrief ministry experiences and develop long-term ministry goals.

What Coaches Do Not Do

●       Re-teach course lectures

●       Grade assignments

●       Provide all the answers

●       Replace pastors or local churches

●       Create dependency

Qualifications

●       Faithful follower of Jesus Christ.

●       Active member in good standing of an Evangelical church.

●       Spiritually mature and teachable.

●       Solid understanding of the Christian worldview, Bible, and theology.

●       Comfortable facilitating discussions and using Zoom.

●       Ministry experience among Muslims

Training Requirements

●       Complete the six-week EICMS Coach Certification Program (October-November 2026)

●       Additional training may be required in Christian worldview, biblical studies, theology, and ministry among Muslims.

Time Commitment

●       2-3 hours per week during coach certification (October–November 2026).

●       2-3 hours per week during the certificate program (January–June 2027).

 

Application Process

● Fill out the initial interest form.

● Interview with EICMS staff to answer questions.

● Invitation to complete the full application.

● Approval of application.

● Complete EICMS Coaching Certification program.

● Assigned students in January 2027.
