About the Role
Required Education & Experience
Undergraduate Degree - Required
Seminary Degree - Strongly Preferred
Ordination by a church of like faith and order strongly preferred
Minimum of 10 years of experience in general ministry leadership preferred
Minimum of 5 years full-time experience in this/related role preferred
Minimum of 5 years of staff/team leadership experience preferred, with demonstrated effectiveness and a teachable spirit.
Duties and Responsibilities
Leadership
In conjunction with the Elder Board, set strategic goals and plans for the church
Attend and participate in Elder Board meetings
Provide leadership for the church staff and volunteer leaders
Preaching
Serve as the primary teacher for the worship services
Plan the preaching schedule, develop new messages, and coordinate substitute teachers and preaching on special events.
Partner with the Worship and A/V teams to coordinate all aspects of the worship services
Community Outreach
Initiate and execute strategies to develop deeper ties with the local community
Build relationships with other ministries and churches to become a partner and resource in the Pearland/Alvin/Friendswood area
Church Strategic Plans and Initiatives
Help identify, recruit, develop, and coach key ministry leaders and staff
In collaboration with the Elder Board and staff, cast vision and provide oversight and care for ministries
Coordinate with the Missions team to enable local as well as global engagement opportunities
General Pastoral Duties
Model Fellowship Bible Church’s mission, vision, values, and a lifestyle of personal discipleship at work and in the community
Attend leadership and team meetings
Attend Pastor/Minister retreats
Be available for counseling
Be proactive in conflict mediation, resolution and reconciliation
Teach in small group settings as needed
Perform weddings, dedications, baptisms, visitations, and funerals as needed and requested
Attend other church events as needed
Personal Characteristics & Qualifications
Meets Elder character qualifications (1 Tim. 3; Titus 1), including a healthy marriage and family, as applicable
Ability to effectively lead the team toward quality decision-making & vision implementation
Ability to mentor and train staff and ministry leaders
Experienced in personal discipleship
Effective interpersonal, pastoral, and relational skills
Fellowship Bible Church member (as soon as practical after joining staff)
Theological perspective that is Gospel-centered and grace-oriented
Committed to the Constitution, Doctrinal Statement, Mission, Values, and Vision
Proven, effective teaching and public speaking gift/ability
Ability to teach academic theology at a lay level
Proven ability to submit to and implement policies decided by the Board of Elders
Displays a spirit of gratitude, hope, and joy in everyday life.
