RDMS/Ultrasound Trainer

General Summary

The RDMS / Ultrasound Trainer is responsible for providing high-quality limited obstetrical ultrasound services at Wyandotte Pregnancy Clinic, Inc. (all locations) while supporting the organization's commitment to accurate, compassionate, safe, and compliant medical care. The RDMS / Ultrasound Trainer provides ongoing training and competency development for nursing staff performing ultrasounds, conducts routine ultrasound chart audits, develops annual ultrasound compliance education, and works collaboratively with the Medical Program Manager and Medical Director(s) to identify and address opportunities for improvement. All responsibilities are performed in alignment with the organization's values and mission.  

Primary Responsibilities:

• Facilitates medical appointments (limited to the approved scope of services as listed below) 
• Provides medical education in a professional manner and in accordance with the organization's Policies and Procedures, with a focus on the following categories:

a. Reinforcing the humanity of the unborn child with the patient through accurate fetal

development education.

b. Providing medically accurate information regarding abortion procedures and risks.

c. Providing medically accurate information regarding STDs/STIs and the benefits of

sexual risk avoidance.

• Facilitates telehealth appointments
• Document client services within agency EHR 
• Attend and participate in all required meetings
• Maintain client confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA guidelines
• Increases knowledge of communication skills, obstetrical, and gynecological care, and women’s health issues. 
• Ensures accurate implementation of Medical Director’s orders and informs Nurse Manager and Medical Director of complex patients’ progress and relevant changes in condition.
• Maintains professional licensure and BLS certification; completes appropriate annual CEUs related to sonography and refresher training with an RDMS 
• Assists with maintaining ultrasound equipment, supplies, and a safe and appropriate scanning environment.
• Serves as a resource to nursing staff for questions related to ultrasound scanning and documentation.
• Performs weekly ultrasound chart audits to evaluate compliance with established ultrasound standards, protocols, documentation requirements, and Medical Director expectations. Communicates significant audit findings to the Medical Program Manager.

Other Responsibilities:

• Leads ultrasound education, training, competency assessment, and quality assurance initiatives for nursing staff performing limited obstetrical ultrasounds.
• Oversees the development and maintenance of nursing ultrasound competencies, in collaboration with Medical Program Manager, through structured education, supervised practice, and ongoing performance evaluation.
• Maintains documentation of training, competency assessments, and signoffs
• Functions as a subject matter expert and consultant for ultrasound-related clinical practice, training, documentation, and quality assurance.
• Maintain working knowledge of nursing methods, principles and practices related to disease prevention and treatment, safety and infection control, and specific practice related to WPC services
• Increases knowledge of communication skills, obstetrical, and gynecological care, and women’s health issues.
