About CSPN
The Child Safety and Protection Network (CSPN) equips organizations around the world
to better protect children through training, networking, and practical safeguarding
resources. Our mission is to collaborate with international Christian organizations by
coming alongside them in their efforts to safeguard the vulnerable in their respective
communities.
We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Director of Finance who will provide
oversight of CSPN’s financial operations, reporting, compliance, and financial systems.
This person will help ensure that CSPN exercises responsible stewardship of its
resources and maintains accurate, timely, and transparent financial information.
Position Summary
The Director of Finance is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day financial operations
of CSPN, including accounting, financial reporting, payroll oversight, cash flow
monitoring, compliance, and support for budgeting and forecasting.
This role reports to the Executive Director and works closely with the Board Treasurer
and the Finance, Audit, and Risk Committee. The Director of Finance also coordinates
with outside payroll services as needed.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with financial systems, pays
careful attention to detail, works well independently, and desires to use their financial
skills in support of a global Christian ministry.
Primary Responsibilities
Financial Operations
• Oversee day-to-day financial activities, including accounts payable and accounts
receivable.
• Maintain accurate and organized financial records in QuickBooks Online.
• Reconcile bank and credit card accounts monthly.
• Ensure a timely and accurate monthly close.
• Monitor cash flow and provide monthly cash flow reports.
• Maintain records for restricted and unrestricted funds in accordance with donor
and grant requirements.
Payroll and Compliance
• Oversee payroll processing and related reporting.
• Coordinate annual 1099 preparation and tax-related filings.
• Support workers' compensation and other insurance audits.
• Ensure compliance with state registrations and reporting requirements where
CSPN operates or employs staff.
• Assist with annual audit, financial review, and tax preparation processes as
applicable.
Reporting and Oversight
• Prepare monthly financial reports for the Executive Director and Board Treasurer.
• Produce quarterly financial packages for Board meetings.
• Assist with annual budgeting and forecasting.
• Provide additional financial reports and analysis as requested.
• Proactively identify discrepancies, cash flow concerns, upcoming compliance
deadlines, or other financial issues requiring attention.
Leadership and Administration
• Coordinate with outside payroll service.
• Maintain organized financial records and documentation.
• Collaborate with the Executive Director, Board Treasurer, and Finance, Audit,
and Risk Committee on organizational financial matters and improvements to the
financial systems and processes.
• Support the responsible stewardship of donor funds and sound financial
practices throughout the organization.
Qualifications
• Strong financial management, accounting, and organizational skills.
• Experience with bookkeeping, accounting, or nonprofit financial management.
• Proficiency with QuickBooks Online.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft 365/Office, particularly Excel.
• Careful attention to accuracy, detail, and follow-through.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive financial and personnel
information.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a remote
international team.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to communicate financial information clearly to individuals who may not
have financial backgrounds.
• Familiarity with nonprofit accounting, restricted funds, payroll, and financial
reporting.
• A heart for serving organizations that protect children worldwide.
• Commitment to CSPN’s Christian mission and child safeguarding values;
agreement with the CSPN Statement of Faith.
Time Commitment
Typically 10 hours per week. Workload may increase around month-end and year-end closing, annual budgeting, tax
preparation, audits or financial reviews, and quarterly Board meetings.
Flexible remote work schedule with availability as needed for meetings with the
Executive Director, Board Treasurer, Finance, Audit, and Risk Committee, and possible
outside financial professionals.
