Position Summary

Morningside UCC is seeking a Designated-Term, part-time pastor who will serve as a spiritual leader, collaborator, and guide as we continue to grow and reimagine our ministry. This pastor will work in partnership with lay leadership to strengthen congregational life, deepen faith formation, and expand community engagement.

This position is well-suited for a bi-vocational minister.

Key Responsibilities

Worship & Preaching

• Plan and lead weekly Sunday worship
• Deliver biblically grounded, relevant, and inspiring sermons
• Collaborate with lay leaders in worship leadership

Pastoral Care

• Provide compassionate care through visits, prayer, and presence
• Support members during times of illness, grief, and transition

Spiritual Growth & Faith Formation

• Encourage and support Bible study and Christian education
• Help cultivate a spiritually grounded and growing congregation

Community Engagement & Outreach

• Strengthen the church’s presence in the local community
• Support and expand outreach ministries (e.g., food distribution, community partnerships)

Leadership Development & Collaboration

• Work collaboratively with church leaders in planning and decision-making

Visioning & Congregational Development

• Assist the congregation discern God’s vision for the future
• Support strategic thinking around sustainability and growth

Qualifications

• Authorized minister in the United Church of Christ (or ability to obtain standing) preferred
• Strong preaching, teaching, and pastoral care skills
• Demonstrated relational and collaborative leadership style
• Commitment to justice, inclusion, and community engagement
• Ability to serve effectively in a small church setting

Compensation & Schedule

• Salary: $1,000 – $1,500 per month (no benefits)
• Time Commitment: Part-time (flexible schedule to support bi-vocational ministry)
• Housing: No parsonage provided
